The project-based certificate features 100 hours of facilitated training consisting of virtual lab, lecture and group sessions and concludes with a capstone project that has participants working through all the stages of a machine learning project. “Modern businesses recognize the transformative power of AI but are also facing a severe shortage of skilled workers,” says Cam Linke, CEO of Amii. “The demand for AI and ML expertise continues to grow across all industries, and it’s through the marriage of domain expertise with technical ML skills that companies can gain competitive advantages. ML Technician Certificate participants learn how to combine their domain expertise with the power of technical ML skills to unleash unlimited opportunities for their futures.”

Over the duration of the online program, participants will work their way through content focused on developing a start-to-finish ML project under the direction of educational facilitators with a passion for teaching and advanced research. Upon successful completion of the ML Technician Certificate, participants will have gained the skills to confidently create a business case for an ML project at their company as well as the ability to undertake an ML project or apply for a job with AI/ML requirements.

Participants will experience all stages of a machine learning project: from objective definition and data preparation; through model selection and tuning; to model maintenance and growth. Successful graduation from the program will earn participants a Certificate of Completion from Amii, one of Canada’s centres of AI excellence.

The course is $4,995 + GST (CDN). Financial assistance is available through a competitive application process focused on Canadian newcomers (immigrants and refugees) and those experiencing job loss or underemployment due to COVID-19. The ML Technician Certification is also eligible for a maximum two-thirds reimbursement through the Canadian Job Grant.

“Amii’s ML Technician Certification allowed me to work through a project on real, current data and gave me all the knowledge I needed to get started. I finished with confidence in my ability to understand and implement ML models from start to finish and expanded my understanding of AI and how it can be applied in current industries.” – Stephanie Husby, Spring 2020 cohort
