On May 12, 2022, the Microsoft Canada Artificial Intelligence Partner Advisory Board (aiPAB) held a panel discussion highlighting questions confronted by many businesses near the start of their journey into data and AI services.
Hosted by aiPAB Chair, Dr. Shane Saunderson, the panel featured engaging discussions from four leading experts on AI in business:
Caroline Ong, Managing Director, Technology at Slalom
Betty Rhiger, Chief Technology Officer, Global Partner Solutions with Microsoft Canada
Dr. Michael Rogers, Data Science Manager & Practice Lead at BDO-Lixar
Matthew E. Taylor, Associate Professor at the University of Alberta & Fellow-in-Residence at Amii
The expert panel covered various topics, including the emerging importance of AI, use cases of businesses just starting their AI journey, common risks and pitfalls as organizations deploy projects, and considerations for incorporating AI into your organization.
“Machine learning really is ready to get out of the lab and get into the real world,” remarked Taylor. “One of my missions as a professor is to get AI deployed in businesses, and to help businesses understand what AI can and can’t do right now.”
