The Government of Alberta, through Alberta Innovates, has announced a $30 million investment in Amii to build Alberta’s AI talent pipeline, accelerate research and commercialization and grow the AI ecosystem.
Alberta is already a leader in artificial intelligence. This investment ensures Alberta remains at the forefront of AI. For over twenty years, Alberta has invested in its artificial intelligence capacity through Amii and the University of Alberta. Since then, AI has become an integral part of daily life and through the advancement of AI research and industry adoption, Amii continues to expand on what is possible.
Amii is a non-profit institute that partners with companies across various industries to drive innovative AI solutions while providing practical guidance, advice, corporate training, and talent recruitment services. The institute is recognized as one of Canada’s three centres of AI excellence under the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy.

Supporting 58 startups with AI programs designed for tech startup founders.

Amii and TELUS are collaborating to study and deliver artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithms and techniques to manage increasingly complex next-generation networks.
Amii and Routique are collaborating on creating AI-enabled warehouses, alongside Big Rock Brewery, to optimize current warehouse management process to alleviate global supplychain pressures.
Collaborated with Attabotics to develop AI capabilities that further optimize efficiency and productivity in Attabotics’ innovative supply chain infrastructure, ultimately supporting Attabotics’ customers which include Nordstrom and Canadian Tire.
