In the latest episode of Approximately Correct, Andrew Butcher, co-founder of Artificial Agency, joins hosts Alona Fyshe and Scott Lilwall to discuss how his company is pushing the boundaries of AI in game development.
Artificial Agency is building technology that allows agents in the game to interact with players more naturally and dynamically. These developments are not only changing the types of games being made but also enabling the creation of new types of games that aren’t yet possible.
"There are brilliant people working to make these games happen. But technology hasn't kept up with ambition"
“We can take these lessons and advancements from machine learning over the last five years and bring them to games in a really exciting novel way. There are types of games that I want to play that we just can't play yet.”
Butcher talks about how generative AI can be used to create videogame characters that can react and tailor themselves to the type of experience the player wants, and how the technology could have a larger impact that extends into areas like education and learning.
