The collaboration aims to mitigate up to 90% of methane venting events with oil and gas customers — improving Ambyint’s technology and driving further innovation to best respond to customer needs.

“This project demonstrates AI’s ability to iterate, improve and deliver a new standard for operational excellence, safety and responsible resource management in the oil and gas industry,” says Stephanie Enders, Chief Delivery Officer. “Through this collaboration with Ambyint, we are paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient approach that will benefit, not only oil and gas customers but, the Prairie region and the industry as a whole.”

Mitigating methane venting events involves implementing advanced AI technologies and algorithms to proactively identify, monitor, and address instances where methane is released into the atmosphere during operations. By managing methane venting events effectively, the project can help mitigate environmental impact, improve operational efficiency, and promote responsible resource management in the oil and gas sector.

“Partnering with Amii allows us to enhance our platform’s capabilities, enabling our customers to optimize their wells more effectively and further increase their potential to reduce methane emissions. This collaboration underscores our commitment to sustainability and innovation. Together with Amii, we are driving meaningful change for our customers ” says Ferdinand Hingerl, Ph.D, Chief Technology Officer, Ambyint.

Ambyint specializes in providing advanced AI-powered production optimization solutions for the upstream oil and gas industry. Their platform improves production efficiency, reduces operating costs, and enhances team performance, enabling lean production teams to optimize every well, every day. By leveraging AI and machine learning, they help companies improve production and sustainable operations.

This collaboration will leverage the recent announcement of a $3M investment to accelerate AI adoption in the prairie provinces from PrairiesCan to support 30 small and medium-sized businesses based in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba over the next three years. The funding will empower Canadian companies to embark on or accelerate their AI adoption journeys, driving innovation and growth in the Prairie region.
