AI4Good 2021: Driving Social Impact

Leverage your creativity, leadership, and technical skills to generate AI solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems.

CIFAR, OSMO and Amii have partnered to present AI4Good Lab in Edmonton (virtually) -- the first national expansion program of the program. From May 3 to June 22, 2021, a cohort of up to 30 women from across Canada will participate in this full-time program, consisting of a machine learning bootcamp, hackathon and self-directed team projects.

Instructors and mentors include university researchers, graduate students and practitioners from startups, corporations, intergovernmental organizations and city government. There's also a strong emphasis on curiosity-driven learning and mentorship both from peers and industry experts.

What’s in the program?

The first half of the program is an intensive, participatory machine learning bootcamp.

The curriculum is interspersed with special-topic lectures and workshops from prominent industry, academic and social good speakers. There is a focus on networking developed through social evenings with our partners and larger events such as Industry Night and the final Demo Day.

During the second half of the curriculum the participants, in small groups, develop AI for social good prototypes of their choosing. During development, they are supported by TAs and have access to industry and academic mentors to enhance their creativity, problem-solving and career development.

Identify as a woman
Live in Canada
Are enrolled in a STEM-focused undergraduate program or have graduated within the last 2 years from such a program
Have a strong math background, some programming experience
Are interested in how AI can be used as a tool for social change
