"We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to share our excitement around the future of AI in Alberta while also helping to boost our local community."
Cam Linke, Amii CEO
“Amii is driven by our passion for AI for good and for all” says Cam Linke, CEO of Amii. “That’s why we’ve launched TechAid in order to offer our expertise in support of causes that are close to our hearts. We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to share our excitement around the future of AI in Alberta while also helping to boost our local community.”
"We are absolutely thrilled that Amii has become United Way of the Alberta Capital Region’s first signatory for Period Promise! This initiative is devoted to eradicating period poverty in our communities by working with governments, businesses, schools, and other organizations to provide access to period products so no one has to make difficult choices due to lack of this basic need. That's why we are proud to support efforts like Amii’s - providing free menstrual products to those that need it, where they need it, and when they need it with dignity and respect – to achieve menstrual equity,” says Rob Yager, President & CEO, United Way of the Alberta Capital Region. “We can’t think of a better way for Amii to launch their Period Promise, share their commitment with their audience, and break barriers than with their Menstruation Stations at TechAid 2022. We applaud Amii’s leadership and commitment to equity in the AI field and beyond."
At the Reverse Expo on October 20, 2022, participants will have a chance to hear from the best and brightest in the fields of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Interdisciplinary Studies as they present their research in poster sessions. Reverse Expo is presented in collaboration with the Department of Computing Science, Faculty of Science, at the University of Alberta to bring together academia and industry to promote collaboration and disseminate the latest research. Participation is free with a suggested donation. Registration is required.
Meanwhile, TechTalks on October 21, 2022 gives attendees an opportunity to see behind the scenes at one of the world’s most celebrated, decorated and sought-after AI research communities in the world. Participants will hear about the most recent breakthroughs, dive into three-minute theses from rising stars in the field, and laugh along as researchers find unique ways to explain complex concepts to kids!
Finally, the Student Developer Conference on October 22, 2022 will bring together high school and undergraduate students passionate about computing science and technology. This full-day, immersive experience provides opportunities to learn more about AI, gaming, design and career planning from some of the top experts in Edmonton. The day of interactive programming is capped off with a talent and career mixer where participants can meet local companies and learn about future careers.
Together, these three events offer an opportunity for Edmonton’s AI and tech communities to join Amii’s mission of AI for Good and For All.
Visit Amii’s CanadaHelps page for more information about the causes, donation receipts and ways to support both charities year round. For more information about TechAid, visit AmiiTechAid.com.
