“If you are interested in the application of machine learning to time-series problems in the energy industry, this is the right opportunity for you. Be a part of the team of research and machine learning scientists and get mentored by some of the best minds in AI.”
-- Shazan Jabbar, Lead Machine Learning Scientist & Mara Cairo, Product Owner - Advanced Technology
This is a paid internship that will be undertaken over a nine-month period with the potential to be hired by our client afterwards (note: at the discretion of the client). The intern will be reporting to an Amii Lead Scientist and regularly consult with the Client team to share insights and engage in knowledge transfer activities.
Kobold Completions is a global provider of advanced well completion technologies and services for the Oil and Gas industry. We specialize in coil-conveyed technology for well completions and remediation. Kobold’s management team is backed by decades of knowledge and experience in the international Oil and Gas Industry. With decades of R&D behind them, the team has authored and been named on more than 182 patents.
The Machine Learning Intern position is part of the Kobold Real-time Information Gathering System (RIGS) project. This project involves collecting and analyzing well completion data from several different on-site devices and sensors. In order to collect and analyze data in this often-disconnected remote environment we will be deploying Edge Computers to do the initial decoding and aligning timestamps for both real-time and memory devices. The Edge Computers will also handle the streaming of data (when available) to cloud resources. The Machine Learning Intern will be specifically involved in developing algorithms to correlate data from very accurate down-hole memory tools with the real-time surface sensors. The goal of the Machine Learning portion of the project is to provide the onsite tool supervisors with more certainty of down-hole events and to provide a foundation for additional onsite real-time Machine Learning opportunities.
We’re looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual with solid knowledge of machine learning and experience working with time series data preferably in the oil and gas domain.
Besides gaining industry experience, additional perks include:
