The investment will continue to strengthen Alberta’s leadership in artificial intelligence research and commercialization.
The Government of Alberta, through Alberta Innovates, has announced a $30 million investment in Amii to build Alberta’s AI talent pipeline, accelerate research and commercialization and grow the AI ecosystem.
Alberta is already a leader in artificial intelligence. This investment ensures Alberta remains at the forefront of AI. For over twenty years, Alberta has invested in its artificial intelligence capacity through Amii and the University of Alberta. Since then, AI has become an integral part of daily life and through the advancement of AI research and industry adoption, Amii continues to expand on what is possible.

Amii is a non-profit institute that partners with companies across various industries to drive innovative AI solutions while providing practical guidance, advice, corporate training, and talent recruitment services. The institute is recognized as one of Canada’s three centres of AI excellence under the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy.
By continuing to invest in AI, Alberta can drive economic growth, create new jobs, and improve the lives of its residents through technological advancement.
