AI with Roche (AIR), the first centre to combine the expertise of all three national AI institutes under the Pan-Canadian AI Strategy, recently launched My Health Data Path, an interactive website that aims to help make the value of health data easier to understand.
The resource was developed in collaboration with Bitnobi, the CIO Strategy Council, the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders, the Canadian Personalized Healthcare Innovation Network, the Open Data Institute, Roche, and multiple individual contributors.
The website, which is currently available in English, French, German and Plains Cree, provides information and resources that allow users to explore the use of health data in a variety of situations. Website visitors can explore conversations that typically occur within the healthcare system, learning more about the ways data is used in finding an appropriate treatment option, receiving a specialist referral, when using remote monitoring tools, and more.
“At Amii, we believe in the power of AI for good and for all and in the importance of using data to meet the global opportunities and challenges we’re facing today,” says Spencer Murray, Director of Communications & Public Relations, who led Amii’s involvement in the project. “My Health Data Path empowers people with information so they can form their own perspectives on the use of personal data for service delivery. We hope this tool helps individuals better understand data use in healthcare and advocate for their own data needs.”

In November 2020, Roche partnered with Amii, Mila and the Vector Institute to launch AIR (AI with Roche), the first collaborative centre to combine the expertise of all three national AI institutes under the CIFAR Pan-Canadian AI Strategy. AIR is a centre of excellence with a core purpose to deliver, to people in Canada and beyond, better health outcomes through the discovery and application of artificial intelligence research.
To date, with the support of Amii, AIR has launched the Roche Data Science Coalition and the EndALS Challenge.
