AI Seminar Series 2021: Dustin Morrill - Efficient Deviation Types & Learning for Hindsight Rationality in Extensive-Form Games

The AI Seminar is a weekly meeting at the University of Alberta where researchers interested in artificial intelligence (AI) can share their research. Presenters include both local speakers from the University of Alberta and visitors from other institutions. Topics can be related in any way to artificial intelligence, from foundational theoretical work to innovative applications of AI techniques to new fields and problems.

On July 30, Dustin Morrill, Ph.D. candidate at the University of Alberta and the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), presented “Efficient Deviation Types and Learning for Hindsight Rationality in Extensive-Form Games.”

In this talk, Morrill examines hindsight rationality, an approach to playing general-sum games that prescribes no-regret learning dynamics for individual agents and further describes jointly rational behaviour among multiple agents with mediated equilibria.
