AI Seminar Series 2021: Sriram Ganapathi Subramanian

The AI Seminar is a weekly meeting at the University of Alberta where researchers interested in artificial intelligence (AI) can share their research. Presenters include both local speakers from the University of Alberta and visitors from other institutions. Topics can be related in any way to artificial intelligence, from foundational theoretical work to innovative applications of AI techniques to new fields and problems.

On May 14, 2021, Sriram Ganapathi Subramanian (Ph.D. student at the University of Waterloo and Postgraduate Affiliate at the Vector Institute) presented “Recent Advances in Mean-Field Reinforcement Learning Methods” at the AI Seminar.

This talk gives a brief introduction to mean-field reinforcement learning (RL), a practical technique that can be applicable to a set of real-world problems. Sriram introduces a multi-type mean-field RL approach and provides practical algorithms that have similar theoretical guarantees to previous algorithms in this area.
