Title: Machine Learning Early Stage Projects – Lessons Learned
Abstract: During Amii's Ecosystems project, companies wondering if machine learning could be of value, worked with supporting groups like StreamML to explore how machine learning might fit. Both Stream ML tools and Bio-Stream Diagnostics Inc’s medical device example are highlighted to share some lessons learned.
Bio: John Murphy, a graduate from the UofA, is CEO and co-founder of Bio-Stream Diagnostics Inc, a startup in the pathogen detection space. Leveraging Stream Technologies Inc., a company he also founded, in machine learning. John has over thirty years of technology commercialization experience including founding and growing multiple Alberta based startups, a mix of successful exits, failures, and some too early to tell. He is active on several advisory boards, Chairman of nanocluster Alberta, is a local angel investor, was on the founding board of the A100 Organization here in Alberta.
